Home learning. Is maths a discovery or an invention?

This week for home learning I have decided to do the activity " Is maths a discovery or an invention?" we had to brainstorm with some family members about what they think. It doesn't say we need to swear it in a creative way so I did it on google drawing but I still make it look as cool as I can. Here is a photo of what I did.

My Narrative.😁

Last Tuesday we wrote a narrative. But we planned it on Monday and wrote it on Tuesday during writing. Making plan about it but that didn't take that long. We had to choose from one of them was ¨Mr Wolf,¨ and the other was was cooled ¨Look into his eyes.¨ I chose the one ¨Look into my eyes.¨ Both of them had photos. Here is the one for Mr Wolf.

We had a story starter. This is the one of the story that I chose.

Just as the sun was sinking down beyond the horizon, a young boy walked along a narrow, dusty track.
The fierce heat of the day had receded, and a refreshingly cool breeze rippled the edges of the boy’s t-shirt as he stood there, staring.
In his dark, brown eyes you could make out the reflection of the figure walking towards him. Looking into those beautiful, forlorn eyes, your mind could almost begin to tell a story, for a person’s eyes are a way into their soul…
This is my story. Spoiler alert. I left it on a cliffhanger.

The fierce heat of the day had receded, and a refreshingly cool breeze rippled the edges of the boy’s t-shirt as he stood there, staring.

In his dark, brown eyes you could make out the reflection of the figure walking towards him. Looking into those beautiful, forlorn eyes, your mind could almost begin to tell a story, for a person’s eyes are a way into their soul. As he looked deeper into his eyes, he could see the rest of his surroundings slowly turn into dust and vanish from all existence. Then he could feel himself. Starting to fade away and turn into dust. Then, all of a sudden a lighting bolt struck him and everything went white. 

When he could see again he was looking into an army of eyes As big as dinner plates. They started to walk closer to him and he started to walk back. Then he tripped on something and fell. When he looked to see what he tripped on he saw that it was a root, But not any root, it was ping and it was slowly moving up and down like a human stomach when they breath. But as he looked closer he could see something inside running down it, it looked like blood. He followed the root with his eyes to look were the unusual tree was. But what he saw was not a tree at all. Instead, it was a huge brain. He was startled, then he thought, am I inside that person’s head? No, that is imposibil, but then why do I see a brain, and an army of huge eyes. I must be inside someone's head.

After he finished seeing the brain, he remembered that there was an army of eyes closing on him. He looked u and the eyes were about 1 meter away. “Well, this is it,'' he thought, “this is how I am going to die, but huge eyes” then he heard a loud voice he looked up at the brain and saw that it was glowing, then he saw it turn around and saw one ginormous eye and one insanely huge mouth. It said, “stand down” and the eyes stopped moving and started to back away.  “Why and how am I here?” it replied “you are here because you looked into my eyes. And when someone or something looks into my eyes he or she is put into a trance and suckted into my head. But you have a chance to get out, all your need to do is fight the monster behind the door. If you win your are free, you can get out, if not… then your die.”

Home Learning. Book Report, #2

For my home learning this week I have decided to write another book report. I know I know. Your thinking I have already done this. Well it's true, I have, but we have to do two of them. So I chose to do this one on a Canva  as well because I thought it would match. So, here is a screen shot of it. if you like It then leave a comment saying what you liked about it. The speech.😦😦

Last week we did speeches. The first thing we had to to was make a plan about what we had to do. Then we had to show the teacher. Mine was about common sense. After that we had to start writing it. After we wrote it we had to show the teacher. After the we printed them out and put them on Q cards. Then we had to practises is. Then we split into to groups. year 5 and 6 and year 7 and 8. then we had to share them. We did that over two days. I was 4th to last on day two. We also got them filmed. I was one of the people that filmed them because I am in the media team. I was a little nerves but it wasn't because I had to talk in front of people. it was because I had bealey praktisted my speach.Here is the video of my speech. Hope you like it.

It's Finished! the bridge is done! 😁😁

Hey guys as you can see in the title. The bridge is done and Math week is over. When my teacheres said it was going to be maths week. I was in shock because I am not that big of a fan of math. But now that we have done it and I am kind of sad because the stuff we were doing was kind of fun. But if we were just doing boring old normal maths, I would have died. Now, here is a slide that has the photos of the bridge on it. Warning! Warning! of you are good at building bridges then look at this slide at you own risk because it was made really badly and mine and Liam's pane of making the best one in the class went up in smoke.

This week for home learning I have decided to do the activity A Trip In The Tardis. It is Dr Who's Tardis. Here is a link to google that has lots of photos of it.

Math's Week, Bridge Building

Hey guys. This week in Rimu and lots of other schools, it has been maths week. We have 9 activities to choose from. Liam and I chose do do the bridge one. It is when we have to make a bridge out a maximum of 100 Popsicle sticks, 5 meters of tape, and 2 meters of string. The first thing we had to do was make a plane. Then we started building. We all need to take photos of what we are doing. Here is a photo of a stage of out bridge.

It doesn't look like much in the photo but we after we took it we got some more done. If you have any feedback saying what we could do to make the bridge stronger, then leave a comment saying what you think. I'll do another blog when we are done with the finished thing. 

Epro8.

Yesterday some of the us in Rimu went to the Epro8 challenge, which is when we go to a place (we went to Middleton Grange) and make something the we get told to out of metal and stuff like like. The year 5 and 6's left at 9:00 and the year 7 and 8's (even thought I was the only year 8) left at about 12:30. None of us got into the top 2 but it was really fun nevertheless. My team made a rat wheel and I am pretty sure every one else made a little lift.. Here is a photo of us looking at our stand we had.

We had to make it lift of the ground and spin. But at the end it slid down and was on the ground.😢

This week for the Media Team we had to to a animation about ourselves. We had to use Animaker to make it.
